Bayly is looking for an Industrial Designer to join our team at our Richmond studio.

Industrial designers at Bayly are involved in many stages of the design process. Your role doesn't stop at the concept stage. You will be informing decisions made at all subsequent stages of the program.

We want people who love what they do, are great at problem solving and great at communicating their ideas. You must be able to think on your feet and have an excellent imagination and sense of adventure. You need to be able to lead the way in conceiving and presenting product design concepts with our diverse team.

Relevant Experience:

A degree in Industrial design. Or proven ability and proficiency as an Industrial Designer.

A passion for user research. And creating solutions for your customer.

Awesome 2D hand sketching and rendering skills. We sketch to share our ideas from the earliest stages of our projects. Mastery of digital tools including Photoshop and Illustrator is required

Equally as awesome 3D modelling and rendering skills. Experience with 3D CAD is essential. We use Solidworks and PTC Creo. For 3D renders we use Maya.

Knowledge of manufacturing processes and willingness to learn more. These are important as they impact and constrain the design solutions.

Experience working to time budgets. We often work in measures of hours and rarely days or weeks. You need to be effective and efficient in delivering your work.

Confidence in communication with customers, partners and team members. You may have to present to the team or to customers and must be comfortable answering any questions and leading them through your thought process.

Consultancy experience is a plus!

Mindset:

You have a passion for design and innovation.

You must be able to admit what you don't know and be happy to find out what you need to know.

You have the initiative to go above and beyond for your team and customers to delight and impress.

You must be able to work well in a team environment. We support each other and listen and respect each others beliefs. We also help each other and take responsibility for our actions.

We can count on you. When we say we're going to do something we do it. You must be prepared to be accountable to your customers as well as your team.

You are organised and able to multitask. We are often working on multiple jobs at a time and you must be able to deliver these on time and budget.
